MOTHERS DAY

May 9th, 2010 by Annie Logan

Mothers Day – What a perfect day to launch the Annie Gets Real blog.  I suspect many mothers are like me, that the best part of celebrating Mothers Day is seeing my boys grown, happy, loving, caring human beings.  I think their secret to success is giving 100% to whatever they are doing at any given moment – can’t go wrong by doing that.  They are very different in personality and stature, but what they have in common is they both have loving  spirits and a jest for life.  When it comes to Mothers Day, I think we have it all wrong.  I want to thank my boys, Mike and Nick , because my life has been so greatly enriched by them and I would not be who I am today if it were not for the privilege of giving birth to my boys.

We rejoice this day in the unquenchable and eternal light that lighteth everyone that cometh into the world.  In that light we are ashamed of those greeds within us that have darkened our own souls, and those selfish customs among us that have shadowed the lives and spirits of others.  We seek Thy presence here, Thou Author of Light, not alone for our joy today, but to illumine the ways of all our doings until every child is brought out of darkness and into Thy marvelous light.  (Author unknown)

The Amyloidosis Foundation estimates that approximately 3,000 people are diagnosed with amyloidosis each year in North America and that blood cancers overall have increased more than 40% in the last decade.
